Arsenal’s youngest ever side produced an impressive display in their 6-0 midweek demolition of Sheffield United in the League Cup.
However, Arsenal’s manager, Arsene Wenger is adamant his team’s defensive nous is the reason why the Gunners have enjoyed a bright start to the season.
With London rival Chelsea and Manchester United cancelling each other out 1-1 last weekend, the Gunners moved into top spot for the first time this season, with Liverpool failing to take pole position having failed to beat Stoke City at Anfield.
Last season the Gunners led the Premier League for much of the way, opening a five-point gap at the summit in February before watching it all fall apart.
It is true Arsenal suffered some terrible injuries to key men such as Eduardo but their defensive mistakes were the core reason for their failure.
"It has not been noticed yet but we've only conceded those two goals from two corners," Wenger told AFP.
Ahead of Hull’s visit to the Emirates this weekend, Wenger maintains his attacking style of play will not be compromised by the need for greater defensive strength.
"What makes me happy at the moment is that we have a good combination of defensive balance and offensive efficiency.
"Sometimes when you work on defending better you lose a number of goals. But at the moment we are combining the two and it means when everyone puts the effort in we still can be very dangerous going forward."
Champions Manchester United were left cursing their luck, as Chelsea scored a late equaliser last weekend at Stamford Bridge, but the improving Red Devils tackle Bolton at Old Trafford confident of taking maximum points.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the season in United’s 3-1 League Cup win over Middlesbrough.
Meanwhile Chelsea take on Stoke City with Liverpool facing cross-town rivals Everton in the latest instalment of the Merseyside derby.
Last year’s encounter at Goodison Park saw Liverpool win 2-1 over their local rivals.
Liverpool new boy Robbie Keane, who is yet to score for his new club is relishing his first taste of the Merseyside derby.
"My experience of derby games has taught me that each match is always completely different - no matter how well you've been doing in the League or how good the team you're playing against is," said Keane.
"Form can give you confidence how you play, but things will be different because it will be two teams fighting for local pride on Saturday."
