Honda production falls in US

Honda Motor Co reported its best vehicle production ever in Asia and in China for August but saw production in troubled US plunge 10.2 per cent from the previous year.

Japan's second biggest automaker produced 295,541 vehicles worldwide in August, down 4.8 per cent on year. Honda's production in Japan for the month dipped 10.5 per cent to 86,264 vehicles. Production outside Japan edged down 2.3 per cent to 209,277, Honda said.

Honda's US production stood at 81,607 vehicles last month. But it marked record production in China at 35,590 vehicles, up 3 per cent on year for August. For all of Asia, its August production was up 2.9 per cent at 63,070 vehicles.
