NSW experiencing an increase in 'Ladette' culture

28/09/2008 4:35:00 PM.  | Olivia Suzanski

New South Wales is seeing the emergence of the Ladette - young women in the 18 to 24 age bracket who go out, to drink as much as the boys.

Between 2000 and 2007, the total number of binge drinkers turning up at hospital emergency departments rose by 59 per cent.

The Sun Herald reports the biggest rise was seen amongst young women, whose numbers increased a massive 200 per cent.

Health Minister John Della Bosca says our hospitals can't cope and there needs to be a change in our drinking culture.

“From time to time I’ve been known to have a drink.”

“I think all of us accept that drinking is part of our culture but there’s a lot of people with the burden of chronic disease as a result of long-term moderate abuse of alcohol.”

What great news, there's nothing sexier than hot young femme squatting down on the side of the road, laughing at the gutter. She rises to her feet (barely) and daintily wipes the chunder from the corner of her mouth, chin and the front of her blouse, before discovering she has wet herself....... Hoo boy, what red blooded man could resist a turn on like that!! :P

The natural result of the Alcohol Pops phenomenon. The Libs love this sort of thing that's why they are blocking the kiddie booze tax changes.

If this is what is out there (as it is a drain on the health system and why should we be paying for this stupidity and yet those who really need medical assistance are left waiting to be seen and lives placed at risk) why doesn't the govt do something sensible and rollback the drinking age - too sensible perhaps - also all these after hours places should be shutting the door at a reasonable time - perhaps then it will stop this behaviour.

Bad parenting, bad parenting and bad parenting. Stop blaming governments and pubs and anyone else you can think of that has nothing to do with it. BAD PARENTING full stop.

Ohhhh c'mon...they have had the best teachers of all as examples ....women have watched men urinate and barf in the street , brawl, use foul language , over all disgusting behaviour, for years !!! Now you want to denigrate young women for doing the same things their their male counterparts have been doing for centuries....I personally find it revolting, and I have for many years...men urinating and vomiting , so drunk they cant stand, is no less disgusting than this.
