Rock thrown at Newcastle bound train

28/09/2008 6:00:00 AM.  | Olivia Suzanski
There are reports of a rock throwing attack on a train bound for Newcastle.

It's believed a rock was hurled at a carriage of the train between Cardiff and Kotara stations just before 11 on Saturday night.

The train continued on to Newcastle with shattered windows.

No one was injured.

This has to be treated in the same way as if someone fired a gun at the train. No matter how old they are they are nothing but terrorists and they should be treated as such.

I hate to agree with you Graeme but you're right. There needs to be tougher penalties put on stupid crimes such as laser attacks and rocks thrown from overpasses.

i have been on a freight train when a rock/rocks were throw at us at baan baa. we thought it was gun shots. that was the force of the rock on the window and the mirror. the driver went deaf in his left ear for a while. it was rather frightening. the police met us at werris creek, and said it was a rock due to the way it shattered. lucky the windows are such that we are protected inside the cab. but its still a scarey thing. something has to be done before someone gets killed. school holidays now
