MI6 using Facebook to recruit spies

29/09/2008 10:13:00 AM.  | LIVENEWS.com.au
Britain's overseas security service, MI6, has started advertising for new agents on the popular social networking site, Facebook.

The intelligence service has been using newspaper and radio advertising for two years – they think Facebook will appeal to a larger variety of people.

"The open recruitment campaign continues to target wide pools of talent representative of British society today," a Foreign Office spokeswoman told AFP.

"A number of channels are used to promote job opportunities in the organisation. Facebook is a recent example."

The adverts have been on facebook for a few weeks now – it’s not known if they have been effective.
