Winthrop Baptist College board chairman Rod White says they're working quickly to bring students home from a school trip to Thailand, after the sudden deaths of one of their teachers and a youth worker on Friday.
Mr White says they're working quickly to bring the group home, and assist the families affected, after 41-year-old Gregory Crombie, and 19-year-old Thomas McGuiness died in an electrical storm in Khon Kaen province.
Winthrop principal Peter Burton and a counsellor are in Thailand, and a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesman said yesterday Australian Embassy staff in Bangkok also have been assisting the group.
Mr Burton has met with DFAT staff in Bangkok, and was travelling to the region to meet up with the distressed students.
