A dog has been found hanging from a tree in Sydney's west in an horrific case of animal cruelty.

The female cattle cross was discovered in the RAAF Memorial Park in Mt Druitt this morning.

It's believed she had been hanging there for days, but it's not known if she was killed before being hanged.

There are no other signs of injuries on the dog, which is no more than five years old.

The case has horrified RSPCA inspectors who say it's the worst case of cruelty they've ever seen.

Authorities are now searching for those responsible.

Maybe the "so called lady" who was so quick to judge the whole of Mount Druitt should take a trip down there to help the less privileged instead of being so superior about it all. Once and for all imbeciles like her should be taught a lesson. She should be asked on the show for a debate with the people of Mount Druitt and let the rest of us decide on who is educated. That so called lady despite sounding like a snotty nosed moron, is right. Recalling the cases of animal cruelty they do happen in the lower socio economic suburbs, bad parenting, dysfunctional familes etc. Sad but true, but there is no excuse to use suburb snobbery to debate such a heinous act. Shame on her. There are many who live in these suburbs who do not commit these acts, its not the suburb but the kids and their idiotic parents who don't teach them to respect life.

There are more wildlife attacks, and now these dog atrocities! Our world is going down a moral spiral of decay, and life is becoming cheaper. We need harsher penalties for animal cruelty and there are premeditated violent crimes that should attract capital punishment. There are too many human rights in some areas, and very few for animals.

What kind of up bringing do these sort of people have? I mean I would blame the area myself it's very low class & the generation just continues, police need to be more involved in Western suburbs there's been so many animal abuse cases around that way it's disgusting, you can't even blame the child "if it's a child" you have to place blame on there family. This made me so sick to my stomach, I have a 2 y/o Jack Russell Cross & I am very protective of her, ppl need to be more aware of this.
