There has been another horrific case of animal cruelty, with a dog set on fire in a park in Sydney's west.
The badly burnt male terrier cross was found a passer by in a park at Yennora. The man took the dog to a nearby vet but unfortunately it was so severely injured it had to be put down.
RSPCA Inspector Slade Macklin says he can't believe what he has seen.
"I've been doing my job for a lengthy period of time and I've seen a lot but there's always something else that happens that just makes you think, 'I can't believe this.'"
"To say it's sickening is putting it lightly. It's just horrific."
"Looking at this little dog come in his tongue's all burnt, his mouth's all burnt, he was in a shocking state."
Earlier today a dead dog was found hanging from its leash another western Sydney park.
RSPCA Inspector Matt Goodwin said the female cattle-dog cross was discovered this morning in RAAF Memorial park, on the corner of Belmore Avenue and Woodstock Road at Mt Druitt, in Sydney's west.
The tan-coloured dog, estimated to be no more than five years old, had probably been hanging there for a couple of days, Insp Godwin said.
It had already started to decompose before a member of the public contacted the RSPCA earlier today.
Insp Godwin said it was not clear if the animal was already dead before being strung up, however it had suffered no other obvious injuries.
"It is without a doubt the worst case of cruelty and the most disturbing that I have ever seen," he said.
"We're appealing to anyone who has any information or who may have seen people acting suspiciously in the area over the weekend, to come forward.
"The dogs' owners might still be looking for their pet."
