The feeling of being stung for traffic offences is never pleasant – But could you imagine racking up $A2.28 million in fines, like the case of one Brazilian driver?
Brazilian police have reportedly caught a motorist who owes the equivalent of just over $A2 million in unpaid traffic fines.
Folha OnLine says police stopped 36-year-old Armando Clemente da Silva on Wednesday night and discovered he has been ticketed nearly 1,000 times since 2001, the year he bought his current car.
Folha OnLine says the accumulated fines for speeding and running red lights total 3.4 million reals ($A2.28 million).
Silva says he never received the tickets because he was always too busy to register the car in his name.
The car is worth about $US6,600 (($A7,915.57), Folha OnLine reported Thursday. It was impounded and will be auctioned unless Silva comes up with the money he owes.
Off The Wall says: $A2.28 million? What a lightweight. He obviously has never met Australian parking inspectors.
