Eating Skippy to save the planet

1/10/2008 1:23:00 PM.  | Chris Smith
Thanks to all this talk about carbon emissions a battle has begun and its kangaroos versus cows and sheep.

Don’t scoff, this is big ticket stuff.

Climate advisor Ross Garnaut wants us to all eat kangaroo and be done with cattle and sheep, to save the environment.

It’s become a Green catch-cry too.

But I can just imagine what graziers all over Australia are thinking today, after picking up their paper, or surfing the news sites on the net: “Over my dead body.”

But before we dismiss this as carbon-talk gone mad - why not go halfway?

Why not use what we shoot anyway, what we have in plague proportions, to create a healthier, less cost and carbon intensive industry? To partially replace our reliance on what we usually eat?

Seriously, if you haven’t tasted roo, you’re missing out.

And yes, it’s Skippy, I know. But most of eat Jessie the Cow and Sean the Sheep, right?

So do you eat Skippy?

It is all BULL! We all burp fart and what ever. Now you are stupid. How about reduce human population by 50%. Then we need less cows less sheep and we emit less gass. See what would pope say about that. But I am sure this makes for a good subjet for us to talk about in a pub because you can't take this seriously.

Mr Garnaut picks on the animals that can't fight back. He's too gutless to suggest the human animal limit its massively polluting numbers!

"Happy Stein" is correct! Most of the methane from livestock comes out the mouth, actually, due to their digestive system. There are too many people on the planet, not too many kangaroos! There is kangaroo killing industry propaganda going on at the moment to get people to eat them! They get government funding to use these precious animals as commodities. They can't be farmed as livestock and they take up to 12 years to mature, with only a little meat. Leave them alone!

Careful, PETA will be here denouncing us for animal cruelty. Perhaps Garnaut's next grand plan might be eating humans, we are the cause of climate change after all are we not ?. EErr Oh , I forgot , he cant because we are bringing 1 mill more into the country over the next 2 yrs. Oh well why not put a burp and fart tax on us, it is a "burp" tax they are wanting to put on cattle isnt it ? OHHH and we are going to pay for Mothers to have more babies too, we need a baby burp tax too. What a joke.

I'm sorry I grew up with skippy, i cannot, and won't eat skippy. i see the kangaroo meat in woollies and it makes me ill. i don't know why i have such a problem but its not one i will overcome. maybe we should stop tearing trees down. do something about the water situation. rather than eating skippy

Garnaut has reduced his credibility by encouraging the eating of kangaroos! He has not researched this at all but just following the lead of this killing industry. Kangaroos can't be "farmed" as they are not domesticated animals. The cost of fences would not be realistic, and there would need to be multiple MILLIONS of kangaroos to provide enough red meat for our population! They are only small animals and grow slowly. Killing them would have to be done as "game" and is unhealthy.

One sure way to reduce the usage of power stations is not to pay his enormous government grants. He is using computer modeling based on a set of numbers that are proven to be wrong; models 12 months ahead but speaks as though it is for years ahead; but he still presses ahead regardless to drive his agenda. If he weren't Sponsored by the government; he would be found guilty by the ACCC for misrepresentation under section 52. The bloke has his head so far into the clouds that he is no earthly good.

You sure his head is in the clouds james. I am sure Mr Garnaut is saving the planet by keeping his head so far up his arse he doesnt fart and leave a carbon footprint.
