It was a case of which celebrity party last night as Sydney’s glitter set were split between Olivia Newton-John’s fundraiser and a David Jones’ launch for its new credit crunch busting credit card.

Also at the do where Newtown-John’s band of happy strollers who did her charity walk along the Great Wall of China earlier this year, James Rayne, Melinda Schneider and Chantelle Delaney.

Also performing at the gala event were Kate Ceberano, Christine Anu and Vanessa Amorosi.
Newton-John herself took to the stage with original Idol Guy Sebastian after interval for a rendition of the song that made her a pop-culture legend, You're The One That I Want.

Goody too shoes Sebastian was gushing about his performance with Newton-John.

“It’s a bit of a dream to be on stage with someone who’s had such an impact on the musical world,” he told media.

“And I can’t believe she is 60 years old – she’s beautiful and still an amazing performer.”

All the money raised from the concert was donated to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal.

"Goody too shoes Sebastian was gushing about his performance with Newton-John." What is that? Why can't you just say, 'Sebastian spoke about his performance with Newton-John.' What happened to reporting, rather than just having digs. Besides, you can't even spell 'goody two shoes.'

PS. They didn't sing 'You're the One That I Want'. It was 'Summer Nights' . And yes, I know it says 'You're the One That I Want' in other papers. One gets it wrong and the rest follow, it seems.

Typical tacky journalism by someone who wants to sound smart but ends up sounding stupid.Am far from a sebastian fan but his solo medley was quite good and although he's no match for Olivia's usual backing vocalist steve real(who usually performs ''summer nights'' with Olivia in her shows) he gave a creditable performance. At least he knew the words unlike todd mckinney who messed up more than once in Tenterfield Saddler (words and timing!)despite playing peter allen in the Boy From Oz!

I tried to google the name Steve Real, John, and can't find anything on him. I wondered if perhaps you made a typo?

i wasn't there but based on photos and my experience of Guy's concerts, i'm sure he gave it his best shot. Guy always gives 100% plus and he doesn't do impersonations (ie, copy olivia's backing vocalist). Guy makes cover songs his own, puts his own take on it and he makes it look easy and always fun. and he's a GOOD GUY, not "goody too shoes". he's touring for Legacy charity, what can i say? thanks john, you're not a fan but you know a worthwhile performance when you see one.

Noit a great article. The spelling is embarrassing and the information both scant and inaccurate. Why on earth didn't you use spellcheck? even this reply section on your website has an automatic spellchecker!! This is my first visit to livenews.com and I specifically wanted information about Olivia. Accurate information that is (!!!) not this drivel.
