It was a case of which celebrity party last night as Sydney’s glitter set were split between Olivia Newton-John’s fundraiser and a David Jones’ launch for its new credit crunch busting credit card.
Over at the State Theatre Newton-John walked the red carpet with her herb company millionarie husband John Easterling whom she married twice earlier this year – once in an Incan ceremony in Peru and again at another less exotic hitching in Florida.
Also at the do where Newtown-John’s band of happy strollers who did her charity walk along the Great Wall of China earlier this year, James Rayne, Melinda Schneider and Chantelle Delaney.
Also performing at the gala event were Kate Ceberano, Christine Anu and Vanessa Amorosi.
Newton-John herself took to the stage with original Idol Guy Sebastian after interval for a rendition of the song that made her a pop-culture legend, You're The One That I Want.
Goody too shoes Sebastian was gushing about his performance with Newton-John.
“It’s a bit of a dream to be on stage with someone who’s had such an impact on the musical world,” he told media.
“And I can’t believe she is 60 years old – she’s beautiful and still an amazing performer.”
All the money raised from the concert was donated to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal.
Over in Darlinghurst DJ’s was launching its debt maker at and exclusive party that included former coat-hangers Erica Packer and Megan Gale and Olympians Libby Trickett, and Grant Hackett.
The American Express card, which can be used at shops apart form David Jones, will allow holders to gain points when buying meals and even petrol.
