Harbhajan keen to play for Aussie Twenty20 sides

2/10/2008 12:05:00 PM.  | Nick Markham
One of crickets most controversial characters, Harbhajan Singh, has revealed he is keen to play for one of the two Australian sides that will participate in the inaugural Twenty20 Champions League later this year.

News Limited reports Singh, who has had a number of heated run-ins with Australian cricketers in the past year, is interested in turning out for either Western Australia or Victoria in the eight team competition that will take place in India in the first week of December.

India's leading off-spinner would undoubtedly be an asset to either of the two Australian sides, but it's another question entirely as to how the 27-year-old would be received by his prospective teammates, given the torrent of abuse he has directed at Aussie players in the test arena.

Singh was banned for three test matches in January for abusing Andrew Symonds in the Sydney test, but the ban was later reduced to a fine on appeal.
