Animal activist Pamela Anderson has continued her war against fur – this time by focusing her venom on Aussie actress Cate Blanchett and fashion designer Giorgio Armani.
The PETA spokeswoman has taken a crack at Blanchett, firing off an angry letter to the actress over her choice to support Armani – a designer who Anderson is peeved off with for supposedly using fur in his clothing collections.
"Cate, as you are such a huge part of Armani's publicity machine, would you please urge him to keep his promise and leave fur out of his future collections?" The Baywatch actress wrote.
PETA claim that Armani’s winter collection includes fox and rabbit fur, and are urging the Italian designer to discontinue using the materials at once.
The push to convince Armani to create fur-free designs comes after he reneged on his promise to discontinue the use of animal products.
“I spoke with the people from PETA, and they showed me some materials that convinced me not to use fur.” He said in an interview with Time magazine just over a year ago.
The response from Armani’s desk was that the company did intend to discontinue using any kind of fur other than the kind taken from rabbits.
"As a luxury fashion house, which has always been attentive to this issue, we feel we are being unfairly targeted in comparison to our competitors," the company said in a statement.
