3/10/2008 8:11:00 AM.  | AAP
Twenty-five people have been charged following a major drug operation targeting drug distribution in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley nightclub district.

Police said 19 men and six women were charged with trafficking, supplying and possessing drugs after more than 70 officers using sniffer dogs searched homes around Brisbane.

Large amounts of drugs, including ecstasy, methylamphetamine, cocaine and LSD were seized while proceeds of crime action was initiated against three of those arrested.

In addition, five people were charged with trafficking in dangerous drugs.

Police say more arrests are expected.

Detective Superintendent Brian Wilkins of the State Drug and Property Crime Group described the operation as extremely successful.

"Individuals need to be aware that operations of this type will continue and people involved in the distribution of drugs will be identified and prosecuted," he said.
