Sydney FC coach John Kosmina insists it's just a matter of time before misfiring new strikers John Aloisi and Mark Bridge break their goal droughts.
The pair, along with Stuart Musialik and Simon Colosimo, were Kosmina's major off-season recruits but have so far failed to live up to expectations.
Aloisi, in particular, joined from Central Coast on a marquee player contract believed to be worth about $1.3 million but has struggled to find his best form.
Kosmina said an interrupted pre-season for both players was to blame for their slow starts. Bridge's scrappy goal against Perth in August is the only time either player has scored in a combined 12 appearances this season.
Aloisi missed the entire pre-season and the first two rounds of the A-League with a foot injury while Bridge was involved with the Olyroos.
"I think Mark's probably got a bit of a hangover from the Olympics and he's fairly new into the group," Kosmina said.
"He had to come in cold and had to play with John Aloisi and (Alex) Brosque, who he'd hardly kicked a ball with before.
"I'd like to see Mark concentrating on getting into scoring positions a bit more often. Instead of looking where to play football around the edge of the box, look to where you can score a goal.
"I think he's going to get better as time goes on.
"Johnny's playing himself back into form after an injury. He's getting fitter, he's getting a lot more mobile, and our attacking line will only improve."
Meanwhile, Roar coach Frank Farina says next weekend's FIFA break has come at an opportune time for his side, with midfield hardman Danny Tiatto among the injury concerns, coming off early with a niggling groin complaint in Saturday night's 1-1 draw with Sydney at the Sydney Football Stadium.
"I think with the few knocks and niggles that we've got the break is most probably going to serve a purpose for us," Farina said.
