Australian team named, Krejza and White face nervous wait

8/10/2008 3:51:00 PM.  | AAP

Uncapped spinners Jason Krejza and Cameron White face a nervous wait with only one of them expected to make their Test debut against India tomorrow in Bangalore.

The Australian selectors today named their 12 for the opening clash of the heavily anticipated four-match series and it is expected that either Krejza or White will be named 12th man.

White is a vastly more experienced campaigner but only bowled 84 overs in first-class cricket for Victoria last summer, taking six wickets at 47.

Krejza's recent numbers don't stack up too kindly either.

The right-arm off-spinner was belted for 0-199 off 31 overs in the recent tour match against the Indian Board President's XI in Hyderabad.

Shane Watson is set to play his first Test in nearly three years, his last outing in the baggy green coming in November 2005.

Simon Katich has kept his spot at the top of the order with Phil Jaques making way for the return of Matthew Hayden.

Australia: Matthew Hayden, Simon Katich, Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Clarke (v-capt), Mike Hussey, Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, Cameron White, Brett Lee, Mitchell Johnson, Stuart Clark, Jason Krejza.
