Lions consider gambling on Ben Cousins

8/10/2008 10:00:00 AM.  | LIVENEWS.com.au
The Brisbane Lions are considering recruiting former Brownlow Medal winner and drug addict Ben Cousins for next season.

Cousins is undergoing rehabilitation for his drug problems but is interested in returning to the AFL in 2009 after a one-year ban for bringing the game into disrepute.

Brisbane has not ruled out approaching the fallen star, but is still considering whether it is worth approaching a player with Cousins' tainted off-field record.

"We have not even made the first step in what would be a very long journey," Lions chief executive Michael Bowers told the Courier Mail.

"We may see the terms and conditions associated with it and immediately rule it out, but as a club we have not ruled it out."
