McCain Foods Australia has issued a product recall after a batch of its vegetable pasta product was found to contain metal fragments.
Retail outlets have been advised all McCain Stir Fry Vegetables Pasta Alfredo with Sauce, bought in 600 gram stand up poly bags, with a best before date of December 21, 2009 are to be pulled off the shelves.
In January this year, the product was distributed to IGA stores, Campbells Cash & Carry and Australian Liquor Marketers in Australia and Pak' N Save and New World stores in New Zealand.
McCain Foods marketing director Derrin Johnson said only products with the specific best before date could be affected.
He said the decision to recall was "a precautionary action undertaken by McCain Foods as part of its commitment to provide high quality products to its customers".
Customers should be able to return the product to their local store for a full refund, he said.
