Power Ranger morphs into Underbelly star

Cracks are forming in the armour of secrecy surrounding the Underbelly prequel – with strong suggestions former Power Rangers actress Anna Hutchison will be joining a band of bandits on the small screen.

The 23-year-old New Zealand native, who cut her acting teeth on Kiwi soap institution Shortland Street, broke through as the Yellow Power Ranger in an updated version of the popular children’s series.

She’s now tipped to join the hit gangland drama Underbelly when it returns to our screens next year – although her role has not been confirmed.

Hutchison has planned for pre-production in preparation for final negotiations with the Nine Network.

Her representatives, Sue Barnett & Associates, were not making comment, but industry insiders say the opportunity was “an amazing break” for the bright young actress.

Plot leaks are revealing that the action will shy away from the Melbourne gang-lands of the first series, and focus more on the dope trade of Griffith in the late 70’s and early 80’s.
