Emails reveal backpacker’s time with Britt

The emergence of a new email exchange has painted a picture of missing Australian backpacker Britt Lapthorne's last week before she disappeared.

Ms Lapthorne, 21, from Melbourne, vanished after leaving a nightclub in the early hours of September 18 in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Canadian traveller Krys Noseworthy met Ms Lapthorne on a bus in Bosnia from Sarajevo to Mostar and spent five days with her before arriving in Dubrovnik, News Limited newspapers reported Thursday.

The last time Ms Noseworthy, 26, saw Ms Lapthorne was only hours before her disappearance.

She only learned about the disappearance five days later in an email from another backpacker.

The email said: "Britt did not come home. I am REALLY worried.

On September 23, Ms Nosworthy replied, "I wish there was something I could do... Still no word from her.

"Britt was such a sweet girl, really easy-going, really loved to laugh," Ms Noseworthy said.

The pair teamed up with Polish-American backpacker Dominic Dabrowiecki in Mostar and made the trip to Dubrovnik together.

"He already had a booking at the hostel in Dubrovnik. Britt and I decided to go along with him to the same hostel," Ms Noseworthy said.

There they shared a seafood meal one night with other backpackers, and spent two days exploring the city.

On September 17, Ms Noseworthy caught a bus to Korcula for the scuba-diving but Ms Lapthorne made no mention of plans to meet anyone later that night.

The two travellers had planned to meet in Split six days later.

Ms Noseworthy tried calling her friend's mobile phone but it rang for six days before going dead.
