Catholic priest faces court over child sex crimes

9/10/2008 12:51:00 PM.  | Kelly Sexty
A Newcastle priest has appeared in court charged with a string of child sex offences.

Father Peter Brock appeared in Newcastle Local Court, stone faced and reserved as he heard of 22 allegations of child sex assault charges against him.

The incidents are alleged to have occurred in the late 70s and 80s.

The 63-year-old has been granted with conditional bail to the allegations, which were described to the police prosecutor as a smorgasbord of pedophilic offences.

The former Head of Clergy will reappear in court on the 26th of November.

He's the third member of the clergy charged as part of strike force Georgiana - a 65-year-old and 70-year-old man were arrested in August.

A 56-year-old man is due to front court shortly, charged with 13 sexual offences.
