Finance ministers from the around the world, including Australia, are preparing to meet in Washington as tensions over the global economic crisis continue to rise.

Finance Ministers from the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, France, Germany, and Italy, will be in Washington tomorrow considering their response to the financial crisis.

US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson says the crisis will be overcome.

“Although we are facing particularly difficult circumstances, I remain confident that we will work through the challenge, as we have always successfully worked through every economic challenge in the history of the United States.”

Ahead of their meeting, the G7 finance ministers say they want to bolster capital and stabilise the financial markets.

The meeting comes after another volatile day of trading on global markets with falls across Europe.
