Trade week: The lowdown

Ray of light for Carlton

The Blues are in with a chance of snagging midfielder Farren Ray, who has informed the Western Bulldogs he will nominate for the pre-season draft if a trade deal cannot be struck.

Carlton's best chance may be to swap a player, after the Bulldogs indicated they would want at least a second round draft pick in return for the talented midfielder.

Green says no to Sydney

Melbourne star Brad Green has knocked back an approach from the Swans, but his future is still up in the air.

Collingwood, Carlton and Hawthorn are all interested, and the Demons have a three-year offer still on the table.

The pre-season draft remains an option.

Setanta to stay a Blue

Irish star Setanta O'Hailpin looks set to stay at Carlton, despite interest from several clubs.

No love for Lovett...yet

Andrew Lovett's future is also under a cloud, with Essendon and Geelong still trying to hammer out a deal for the talented speedster.

Out-of-contract Cat Brent Prismall may hold the key.

The midfielder has indicated he's keen to go to Essendon, but Melbourne remain interested.

The Demons would be able to offer Essendon a better draft pick than the Cats, or take him in the pre-season draft where they have pick one.

The Cast have indicated they may try to swap Prismal directly for Lovett, with the Bombers paying some of Lovett's $250,000 salary.

Shannon sticking with Geelong

The Cats have decided to sign rover Shannon Byrnes to a new deal, despite a number of clubs showing interest.

Deal on the table for Tom

Geelong forward Tom Lonergan has been offered a new two-year deal, but as yet hasn't agreed to terms.

Carroll a Saint?

Saint Kilda has reportedly shown an interest in Melbourne hard-man Nathan Carroll.

Carroll remains under contract with the Demons, but they are reportedly more than happy to offload him.

Carr's return

Fremantle and Port Adelaide are still locked in negotiation over an appropriate draft pick to see Josh Carr return to the Power.
