Australia’s Joeys have been knocked out of the Asian under-16 football championship, conceding in injury time to lose 3-2 to the United Arab Emirates in the quarter-finals.
After going behind after seven minutes, the Australians fought back to lead 2-1, before UAE equalised late in the game in Tashkent.
With extra-time looming, UAE’s Abdulla Mohammad scored in the 91st minute to send the Joeys packing.
"We had plenty of opportunities in the first-half and we should have scored them so we got punished for that," Joeys coach Martyn Crook told reporters.
