Victorian Marc Leishman is in line for a US PGA Tour card after blitzing the field by a whopping 11 shots to win the Nationwide Tour's WNB Golf Classic in Texas.
The 24-year-old from Warrnambool has rocketed into the top 25 on the money winners list and with just three events remaining, is poised to earn a promotion to the main tour.
Leishman became the sixth Australian to win on the secondary circuit this season and joins two-time winner Jarrod Lyle of Victoria, West Australian Greg Chalmers and Sydney's Aron Price in the leading 25 on the Order of Merit.
Leishman stunned the field with rounds of 67-66-66-68 to finish at 21-under 267, 11 shots ahead of American Keoke Cotner.
He equalled the Nationwide Tour's largest winning margin set by Chris Smith in the 1997 Omaha Classic.
Leishman's win was all the more impressive considering the challenging windy conditions that plagued the field for the entire four day event.
Drawing on his childhood experience of playing the windy south-western Victorian coastal courses, he said he was intent on making an early break.
"I was determined to get off to a good start," he said after bagging a birdie at the par-five second and an eagle at the fourth.
"When I made the eagle at four I was able to play more conservative," he said, choosing a two-iron from the tee from then on.
Leishman collected $US94,500 ($A140,208) for his win to bring his season's earnings to $US197,926 ($A293,659).
A three-time Von Nida Tour winner and Order of Merit Champion in 2006, he is playing in just his second season on the Nationwide Tour.
He finished tied for ninth at the Livermore Valley Wine Championship in April and secured his second top 10 when he finished sixth at the BMW Charity Pro-Am the following month.
Leishman's previous best performance was at the Utah Championship last month where he finished tied for second.
Five Australians finished in the top 10 in the Texas tournament.
Sydney's Aron Price was third, his third top-10 result this year. Perth's Greg Chalmers was equal fourth with Sydney's Won Joon Lee while Melbourne pro Cameron Percy was the fifth Australian in the top 10, finishing in a tie for eighth.
Victorian Jarrod Lyle, who has won twice on the tour and is second on the money list, finished on two under par.
