Air Emirates says a burning smell promoted the pilot of a flight to Dubai to turn back to Perth airport this morning.
The plane was about 90 minutes into its journey when the crew made the decision as a precaution.
Passengers say fumes could be smelt in the cabin of an Air Emirates flight bound for Dubai, before it turned back and made an emergency landing in Perth today.
This passenger says it was all handled very well.
"The captain reassured us all it was just a precaution that we turned around. Better to be on the ground than up there."
Cotrary to reports, Emirates says there was no smoke in the cockpit or the cabin and the decision to return was a precautionary measure.
Flight EK425, which had 120 passengers on board, landed safely at 8.50am (WST) after leaving Perth International Airport at 6.30am.
Aircraft engineers are investigating the cause of the smell.
