A woman is recovering in a Queensland hospital after a horror film-like ordeal during which fellow holiday makers had to kill a huge snake, before prising its fangs from her leg.
The 26-year-old was in the bathroom of her holiday accommodation on Moreton Island when the 1.8 metre carpet python bit her above the left ankle.
Rescue helicopter pilot Brent Hall says the snake wrapped itself around the woman's leg in a tight grip, as the woman and people with her tried in vain to pull the animal from her leg.
He says they had trouble getting the snake off and had to kill it before they were able to prise its head and fangs from the woman's leg.
