An Australian fashion magazine is under investigation after publishing pictures of a topless 16-year-old model.

Russh Australia hired Zippora Seven [right], along with fellow 16-year-old male model, Levi Clarke [not pictured], for a lavish fashion spread, which included pictures of Seven in a bath topless, with Clarke and four bottles of champagne.

The Classifications Act prohibits the depiction of nudity and sexual activity of people under 18.

Seven's Australian agent, Priscilla Leighton-Clark, has told News Ltd that the photo shoot had gone too far.

"It's wrong that our girl has appeared in a magazine exposing her breasts when she's so young," she said.

"I can't be on every shoot. Had I known it was to be a topless shoot, (Seven) would never have done it."

But Russh’s editor, Natalie Shukur, has defended the pictures, which she says were inspired by a classic Johnny Depp and Kate Moss spread.

"We believe Russh readers 'get it' in this narrative story," she told News Ltd.

"These are beautiful images of two young people in character."

No one is getting into an uproar about the topless male - total sexism.

Actually, it might NOT be legal for a 16 year old to have sex - especially if the partner is 17 or older. In the 1950s through 1970s teens used to get arrested for it or at least embarrassed and sent home after al lovers lane raid. Many of those so called blue laws are likely still on the books, just not enforced. A childs brain during puberty into the teens is growing at the second fastest rate which causes irrational erratic behavior, a teen is not ready for sex and certainly not exploitation.

Another storm in a (A) cup by armchair moralists fed by a tabloid press. Words like "apalled", "sick", "sexploitation" and "corrosive" are over the top about some piddly photo of some plain 16 year girl breats. Big, bloody deal. Who cares; there are more important things going on the world rather than some small, inconsequential boobs in a magazine. Frank

If one of the previous commenters can explain, leaving out the inflammatory hyperbole, how the model was exploited or precisely what is so horrible about the picures, I'd be happy to respond in turn. But can I respectfully suggest you take a look at the pictures first.

I have not seen the images .. are they posted somewhere? But putting aside my ignorance, I would point out that teens don't feel comfortable undressed publicly without being desensitized first. I would point out that the photographs do not attract wanted attention. I would point out that sex is an enjoyable activity and is likely to lead to activity that is unhealthy when adults and paraphernalia are involved. In fact, I struggle to see how it might not be abuse.

Fantastic publicity for the mag! Just what they wanted so as to attract more readers, a bit of scandal always helps. Look at RUSSH's record they love all that young lolita look! SHUT THEM DOWN and stop all this sexploitation disguised as 'ART'

I personally don't agree with this either - besides its agsint the law....but please explain why its ok for a 16 year to get naked and have sex, but not pose nude.....isn't there something a little hypocritical about that?

I'm appalled. I have no problem with models getting paid, but I object to young models being exploited in this way. The result is a fantasy that is corrosive to general society and should not be distributed.

It is tasteful since "it was inspired by a classic Johnny Depp and Kate Moss spread"?
