Lara Bingle's father dies

12/05/2008 6:58:00 AM.  |
The father of Australian model Lara Bingle has died.

Graham Bingle lost his battle with cancer on Saturday night, the Sydney Morning Herald website said today.

Ms Bingle's fiance, cricketer Michael Clarke, said on Thursday he was delaying his departure for the Australian tour of the West Indies, after Mr Bingle's condition worsened.

The team left for the Caribbean on Saturday night.

"All I can do right now is provide as much support and strength as I can to Lara and her family," Clarke said.

"Like all families that have endured loss it is very difficult and sad."

I think it is called an 'ordinary tragedy' with it being preferable for one to lose a father, rather than a father to lose a child. It is no less a tragedy. I think Lara can be thankful she gave him many hours of pleasure, as a father, and much pride.
