Three men have been arrested after a massive police chase through peak hour traffic on one of Sydney's busiest roads.
The third suspect has been arrested after evading police for more than three hours following the high speed chase.
Officers were patrolling Waterloo in Sydney's inner-west this afternoon when they spotted a stolen four-wheel-drive.
The car, which had been linked to a spate of armed robberies, sped off and sparked a police pursuit through the inner-west.
Patrol cars were called in as back-up and a police chopper even swooped over the suburbs to make sure the offenders didn't get away.
The four-wheel-drive crashed on Parramatta Road in Strathfield, with three suspects allegedly trying to flee on foot.
One was chased down and arrested within minutes while a second was caught in a nearby apartment block.
"The first man was arrested soon after the foot chase began, while the second was arrested in a unit complex on Parramatta Rd."
The third suspect was thought to have entered a nearby unit block, causing police to set up a perimeter before searching the building.
The suspect was arrested in Strathfield shortly after 9pm.
More than 20 police cars are understood to have been involved in the operation.
The chase has resulted in major congestion during peak hour in Sydney, with the crime scene holding up two major arteries.
