Corey behind bars

5/06/2008 12:26:00 PM.  | Tim Brunero
Party brat Corey Worthington is in gaol after being arrested over two brawls he was allegedly involved in last week.

The bottle blonde teenager has been charged with affray after two incidents at a Coles store and a McDonalds in Melbourne’s Cranbourne.

The incidents occurred within a week of each other.

The 17-year-old was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning at his home and appeared in a Victorian Children’s Court yesterday afternoon.

He will be held in custody until a further court appearance on Friday.

Worthington has been involved in a string of incidents since he found fame in January by holding an out of control party at his parent’s house which took the riot squad and a police helicopter to bring under control.

There was hope for the Melbourne teenager after he distinguished himself during a two-week stint in the Big Brother house entertaining fellow housemates and showing no signs of errant behaviour.

But only hours after his release from the famous Gold Coast sharehouse Worthington was accused of being involved in the trashing of a hotel room he and friends were staying in.

While denying Worthington was involved his manager Max Markson paid for the damage.

But only hours later the boy as famous for his oversized yellow sunglasses as for his party exploits was given a $225 fine for trying to enter a popular Gold Coast nightclub with fake ID.

Since organising a wild party while his parents were away on MySpace that shot him to international fame Worthington has released a single, a re-mix of the famous Beastie Boys anthem ‘Fight For Your Right To Party’ and has been a guest ‘party organiser’ at various underage venues.

He has also hinted he would like to have a career in acting.

It had to happen eventually , all good rides have to come to an end. it's truly unfortunate that this kid has managed to make dollars from his stupidity which has in no way reinforced in his mind what he is doing is right. I think society is partly to blame but not exclusively for not pulling him up to account for his actions earlier. Maybe in the fullness of time he will see what he has actually done and remedy it in his mind and put it into real life. Here's hoping.

I hope he is shown a little discipline while in the cooler. I am sure he will learn very quickly what happens to smart-alecks in prison.

and the agent promoting this moron is part of this problem! It was seen as a reward instead of dealing with it as breaking the law in the first place!

Dan, I don't believe in making light of the situation but I'm not sure if he broke the law by inviting all those people to party. I believe that he was careless and stupid. I believe that his parents should have done something about it in their own right. I agree that the agent is also an idiot for promoting him and I agree that it was effectively a reward for being an idiot. Then being put on big brother was yet another stupid move which also reinforced his already pathetic behaviour.

If the media stopped giving him headlines and allowed him to fall into obscurity, where he belongs, he probably would have woken up by now and realised he's just a neville nobody. If there's no interest the antics would stop.
