Parents blamed for teen binge drinking

8/06/2008 7:15:00 AM.  | Victoria Owens
The fight against teen binge drinking has taken a turn with mums and dads now being blamed for contributing to the disturbing trend.

A submission to a Senate inquiry by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare shows around one-third of drinkers aged 12 to 16 are given alcopops by their parents.

It’s sparked urgent calls for parents to be better educated about the perils of under-age drinking.

Who and what area was surveyed? There are no statements made from anyone from the Institute about this just a bald statement with no back up and we are supposed to believe that.
