Ambulance fees on the rise

24/06/2008 8:25:00 PM.  | Joel Labi
We're being slugged an unlikely price hike with ambulance fees on the rise.

Patients requiring an ambulance will now pay a $290 call out fee, and an extra $2.62 for every kilometre but anyone with pension cards won't be affected.

The costs have been slowly increasing since 2006.

"Patients requiring an ambulance will now pay a $290 call out fee, and an extra $2.62 for every kilometre" I wonder how far an ambulance will go for $290 in the first place.

Which will probably mean Private Health Insurance will go up to cover their costs. NSW, Paying one day, paying the next.

Why would we even charge those who are sick or injured and need to utilise the services of NSW Ambulance? Are the ambos a government agency or are they a private enterprise and the government just pretending they pay for them? We dont charge people who call the Police or Fire Brigade (some exceptions apply) so why the Ambos? . This is just another fine example of shambles that is NSW Health and further evidence of the NSW Government ripping off the people of NSW.

We pay but we still don't have the choice of what hospital to be taken to but only the nearest public hospital and one that you wouldn't send an animal to??? - Why? If we pay we should also have a choice??

If you want to choose wht hospital you want to go to.. your not sick enough to get an ambulance. Get a taxi. Ambulance services are stretched as it is without people wanting to be driven across the city.
