Infamous party pest challenges nuisance charge

1/07/2008 3:25:00 PM.  |
A Melbourne teenager will fight charges his out-of-control party caused a public nuisance.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named, indicated to a children's court today he would also contest charges he produced child pornography by filming underage revellers having sex on a video camera.

His lawyer said the case centred around a suburban teenage party that got out of control earlier this year.

A large number of police were needed to break up the party which took place while the teenager's parents were away.

There is a dispute between the prosecution and defence about whether people at the party were invited by the teen, the court heard.

But the police prosecutor said steps should have been taken by the teenager to stop the party.

The court heard it was rare for someone to be charged with knowingly causing a public nuisance.

Four neighbours of the teen who were disturbed by the party will be among witnesses at a two-day hearing in August.
