Corby suffers relapse after beautician outing

3/07/2008 5:15:00 PM.  |
Australian drug trafficker Schapelle Corby has suffered a relapse after venturing out of her hospital ward to go to a beauty salon yesterday, doctors say.

Corby, who is serving 20 years for drug smuggling, is being treated at a Bali hospital for depression but yesterday left her ward under the watch of armed guards to have her hair done and get a pedicure.

The visit caused a media storm and Corby tried to hide her face as she left the salon, once she realised a swarm of reporters was waiting outside.

Sanglah Hospital doctor Lely Setyawati today said Corby's condition had deteriorated after her outing "... because it's been blown up, she's been chased by many people, she's been afraid".

"The effect is ... her condition is back to zero."

Setyawati said doctors had been preparing to send Corby back to Kerobokan prison, but said that would now be delayed.

"We were preparing her to strengthen her so that she would be able to face her punishment, but now we need a longer time," she said.

She said she did not know in advance that Corby planned to visit the salon yesterday, but it would have been a positive experience for her.

You would be singing another song if it was your daughter, or your sister, or even you. It will be a sad day when we no longer feel compassion for someone. She's paying her dues mate. Besides no-one really seems to be 100% sure whether she's guilty, or not. Don't be unkind - you're feeding the wrong wolf!

I saw the documentary the other day and was shocked to learn the sentences were so harsh in some countries. I feel terrible for her and her family. I am one that believes someone in baggage put the weed in her bag. I hope she is able to stay strong and have faith that people in this world always get what they deserve! The authorities in Bali are idiots!

She should be brought home, especially because no one can honestly say shes guilty or not because the evidence was screwed over with. You people who dont care for Shapelle Corby have no heart and i hope it slaps you right in the face at some point of your life. Shes a human being whos stuck in a disgusting jail. If you looked into the jail over there you would want to vomit!
