Double truck crash turns fatal

Police are investigating a double fatal crash after two trucks collided near Balranald this morning.

About 5am a B Double travelling from Sydney to Adelaide and a rigid furniture truck travelling east collided head on about 50km east of Balranald on the Sturt Highway.

Two males, one from each vehicle were killed in the collision. Formal identification of the deceased is still being processed.

Police have closed off the Sturt Highway to all traffic and will remain closed for most of today while investigations continue into the cause of the crash. The vehicles are currently being recovered.

Local traffic have been diverted via Moulamein and Pretty Pine.
