The Prime Minister maintains an historic lead over his opposition rival Brendan Nelson who's taken another knock in the latest opinion polls.
Today’s Newspoll shows another slight drop in voter support for Dr Nelson, who has lost one point as preferred Prime Minister.
That leaves him on 14 per cent, which is light years away from Kevin Rudd who is more than 50 points in front, on 65 per cent.
The results follow a week of confusion within the Liberal ranks, with senior figures divided over the party’s emissions trading policy.
The opposition is also making barely any on the in roads on the two party comparisons - the results unchanged on 55 to 45 in Labor’s favour from a fortnight ago.
