Government plays down Beechwood kingpin's payments

16/07/2008 11:00:00 AM.  | Kelly Fedor
Claims the owner of Beechwood Homes will get millions of dollars from the sale of the insolvent company have been downplayed by the NSW government.

Larry King goes to the top of a list of unsecured creditors because companies he has a direct involvement in are owed around $20 million from Beechwood.

But fair trading minister Linda Burney has told 2GB’s Ray Hadley there's no guarantee they'll get any of that money.

“Before anything happens they have to prove that those un-commercial transactions actually give them the right to get any money whatsoever.”

Why would the amouunt loaned to the racehorses and written off by Beechwood Homes not be recoverable from Larry King or offset against monies claimed by him so taking him to the bottom of tghe creditor list and paying the deserving people first
