Ambulance officers are preparing to begin industrial action with the NSW government yet to succumb to demands for more staff.
Hundreds of paramedics marched on parliament on Monday demanding an extra 300 officers, with claims lives are at risk because officers are being pushed to the point of exhaustion.
They've given the state government until 11 this morning to meet that demand and sack ambulance boss Greg Rochford or face industrial action.
There's no sign those demands will be met and the health services unions says it's more than willing to pull the plug if there's no resolution.
Health Services Union boss Dennis Ravlich says the State Government doesn't seem to be listening.
“The feeling of members is exceptionally hard, they feel like they have been ignored and not listened to for a period of some years – I think for them they see this as crash or crash through situation.”
Mr Rochford has dug in, he says the service doesn't need more officers and he isn't going anywhere
