Stosur progresses as Nadal wins 25th straight

Rafael was made to wait six hours before finishing off his 25th win in a row today, while Australia’s Samantha Stosur progressed through the second round of the Los Angeles Open.

Nadal was not thrown by a six-hour rain delay, cruising past Jesse Levine 6-4 6-2 to move into the third round of the Toronto Masters.

After receiving a first-round bye, the win was Nadal’s first since beating Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final almost three weeks ago.

Stosur proved too strong for Russian Regina Kulikova, winning 7-6 (7-4) 7-5, and will now face either Victoria Azarenka or Chan-Yung-Jan in the third round.
