Ambulance officers vote to continue work bans

28/07/2008 11:51:00 AM.  | Gil Taylor
Ambulance officers are ignoring orders from the Industrial Relations Commission to lift work bans.

Angry ambulance officers kicked off paper work bans on Friday after demands over staffing weren’t met.

This meant free rides for patients, costing the government over a million dollars a week.

The union wants an extra 300 workers to cope with the demands of the system – they also wanted their CEO Greg Rochford sacked.

The Industrial Relations Commission ordered the bans be lifted, but instead of complying the union has vowed to keep up the fight saying the ambulance service is at the crossroads.
