In the United States, one person has been killed, and five are in critical condition, when a man armed with a shotgun opened fire in a church in Knoxville in Tennessee.
Local television reports a man with long blond hair indiscriminately opened fire on parishioners at a Unitarian Church service.
The report says a group of children were singing for parishioners when the gunman opened fire, but no children were among the injured.
Two members of the congregation tackled the gunman and held him until he was taken into custody by police.
Other media reports say the man fired more than a dozen shots before being overpowered, but it's not known what the motive was for the attack.
Police officer Danny Quinton says people inside the church acted quickly.
“Members of the congregation latched onto the suspect, wrestled the weapon away from him – two or three minutes later the police arrived and took him into custody.”
