US-based confectionery maker Mars says it is pulling a Snickers television advertisement in the United Kingdom that prompted a complaint from a gay rights group.

A statement from McLean, Virginia-based Mars Inc said the ad featuring the actor Mr T is the second in a series that was meant to be funny and has been received well there.

But Mars says the ad is not meant to be offensive and it is pulling it.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation criticised the ad as using stereotypes of gay men.

It's the second time in a year-and-a-half that the privately held company has pulled an ad after receiving complaints that it was homophobic.

In the ad, Mr T berates a speed walking man as a "disgrace to the man race".

what is it with the gay community. They get on the edge so quickly about nothing. It makes you wonder if they are just trying to get a bit of airtime for their cause, because that's all it appears to be Mr T. is a wonderfully inspirational guy. And as far as doing a Snickers ad I thought they were quite hysterical. I doubt seriously if it's homophobic on any level, other than the level that they choose it to be on.

Oh, so now speed walkers are a gay stereotype? Homosexuals have come this far making an oppressive menace of heterosexual politic only to impose their own brand of tyranny. Beautiful. And who decided Homosexuals had no nuts? Or that they're weak, or screwy? As many African American and Asian American stereotypes as exist in the American media fags need to shut up and deal with it the way we all do.

I noticed Mr T nervous when he spoke to some women inviting them to try snickers too. The political correctness has gone too far. That's why comedy is dying on the limb of the tree. Whites can be picked on all the time and nobody protects them. These other groups are overly sensitive.
