The Packer clan has a new arrival, with James Packer and his model wife Erica reportedly parents to a baby daughter.

News Limited is reporting baby Indigo was born late yesterday afternoon at Sydney's Mater Hospital, delivered without complication and days before the due date.

Mr Packer’s close friend, Channel 9 boss David Gyngell told News Limited both Erica and Indigo are doing well.

"A beautiful girl, she looks just like her mother," Mr Gyngell said.

Mr Packer, son of deceased media baron Kerry is one of Australia's richest men.

Earlier this year, magazine BRW ranked him the third richest person in the country - holding shares worth $3.4 billion in gaming firm Crown, and press group Consolidated Media Holdings.

Mr Packer and Erica Baxter were married in a lavish wedding on the French Riviera in June last year.
