Tasmanian Premier David Bartlett says MP Paula Wriedt's attempted suicide on Monday was not in connection to sexual harassment claims.
Ms Wriedt was rushed to hospital this week after suffering what was initially described as a “mystery ailment”.
Today Mr Bartlett has denied Paula Wriedt had been involved with a sexual harassment case, but confirmed a government employee with close links to Ms Wriedt’s office is taking legal action against the minister over a workers’ compensation matter.
“Obviously that has - and rightly so - caused significant stress for all of us - and particularly for Paula,” Mr Bartlett told ABC Radio.
He says Ms Wriedt remains a cabinet minister, but that she had raised the idea of resigning.
“I want to make it clear that I had not accepted or recommended her resignation up until the point I spoke to her last which was on Sunday evening," he said.
Ms Wriedt made headlines last week when she was the subject of an off-colour remark by notorious Footy Show panellist, Sam Newman.
