Transformers actor Shia LaBeouf could have his pinky finger amputated after having it crushed in the wreckage of his car after he crashed it, reports are suggesting.

LaBeouf contacted the producers of the Transformers sequel Revenge Of The Fallen to notify them of the possibility - sending the movie into turmoil.

The ‘Transformers’ star – who was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) after a car accident late last month – and is also said to be considering a visit to a rehabilitation clinic to combat his alcohol addiction.

A source told US TV show ‘Extra’: “He is thinking about going to rehab. Judges like to see it.”

However, a representative for Shia – who required extensive surgery on his left hand following the crash – refused to confirm or deny the rumours, adding: “Right now, we're focusing on Shia's hand.”

Shia was told last week he would not be charged over the car accident as the other driver was at fault.

Los Angeles Sheriff's spokesperson Steve Whitmore explained: "The other car ran a red light and, if not already, they will be cited.

"They will now be listed as Party One on the report, indicating they were at fault."
