A dock converted into a kitschy quarantine area was the scene last night for the launch of the latest accessory you didn't know you needed to have - a thong pin.

Thong goliath Havianas have unveiled the new 'Pininho' – clip-ons for your flip-flop.

Company reps at the event insisted on referring to the foot trinkets as an “expressory” (that’s a fusion between expression and accessory for those not fluent in PR).

Apparently Portugese for "cute little pin", the 'Pininho', is inserted into the thong through a hole punched into the rubber strap.

There’s one to suit whatever mood you’re in, from the glam, punk-rock skull and cross bones, to the cutesy strawberry or red lips.

"The launch of Pininho is an exciting step into an industry that's saturated in fads, trends, and hilarious faux pas," explains Brand Manager Emma Kowaleczko, without a trace of irony.

"But with Pininho you can change your style as often as the trends do and stay ahead of the game."

Available from November, they are sure to fill the void in your life.
