Harmison triggers South African collapse

8/08/2008 7:21:00 AM.  | AAP
England paceman Steve Harmison has triggered a South African collapse at The Oval to put the hosts in full control after the first day of the fourth Test.

Harmison has been impressive in his first match for England since being dropped in March, capturing two wickets in two balls while James Anderson has taken three for 42 to dismiss South Africa for 194.

At stumps on the first day, England were one for 49, with Alastair Cook on 20 and Ian Bell on 22, giving Kevin Pietersen a good start to his captaincy.

South Africa have already won the series, taking a 2-0 lead into the final Test.
