Sydney anxiously awaits Sunday

8/08/2008 2:12:00 PM.  | Tim Brunero
Sydneysiders have been gripped with “Sunday Rose” fever, following new parents Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s desperate lengths to stop photographers getting a snap of their child.

Sydney newspapers have gone to embarrassing lengths to get the “Kurbans” child Sunday Rose, or Sunday Roast as some wags have dubbed her, out of their bunker and into their pages.

The Daily Telegraph’s resident gossip-mongers “Sydney Confidential”, who regularly spit bile at celebrities, were instead gushing in the direction of Kidman and Urban.

“Call us clucky but Confidential – like millions of Kurban fans – will just burst if we don’t see her baby face soon.

“So, in a desperate – and gratuitous – plea to her proud parents, Keith and Nicole – we’ve renamed today’s pages – Sunday Confidential – in honour of the pint-sized sweetie.

“Like a pregnancy craving for peanut butter, the appetite to see the Aussie favourites’ little Vegemite just won’t go away.”

Thankfully the gossip column over at The Sydney Morning Herald showed a little more restraint – though it didn’t stop them leading with the story on their backpage.

Yesterday, Sunday Rose was taken to see her aunty, Antonia Kidman, at her Greenwich home, having met her grandpa, Anthony Kidman, the night before.

The proud mum took some time out yesterday to get her hair done at top notch mop choppers Valonz in Paddington.

It is only the Aussie media that has Sunday Roast fever, so ridiculous. Regular people don't care, it's a baby, people have them every day. The Aussie media lead poor delusional Nicole to think that all of Sydney cares, and they don't.

Please don't Sydney siders in with the paparazzi. Leave the people alone and don't justify photographer's gutter scraping by saying the people of Sydney want it.
