Newcastle coach Gary van Egmond is “very confident” his team can beat Perth Glory this weekend, despite the Jets failing to win in Perth for almost three years.
The A-League champions scored late to draw 1-1 with the Central Coast Mariners last week, but van Egmond said the Jets were ready to bounce back against the Glory.
"It depends which cliché you want to use, 'you're only as good as your last game' I suppose," van Egmond told News Limited.
"We feel very confident coming up against Perth this weekend.
"The boys felt that we lost two points last weekend, which is a good indication that they're disappointed with getting a point."
In other matches, the Mariners host Sydney on Saturday, Melbourne visit Wellington on Sunday and former Socceroos captain Craig Moore could return for Queensland against Adelaide United in Brisbane on Sunday.
